The Blind Eye
Kevin LaPorte and Amanda Rachels are the Mobile, Alabama-based creators of the upstart clown slasher tale, Clown Town, runner-up in the Small Press Idol 2010 competition. This unique take on the prevailing fear of clowns was the darling of the contest, leading the popular vote throughout as readers were intrigued with the concept of killer clowns as avenging spirits for abused children. Kevin and Amanda also produced The Blind Eye, a free horror-themed web comic featuring a story of masked vigilantes protecting a hurricane-flooded city invaded by dark forces both human and supernatural. |

The Rebel Legion |
| Red Stick Rebellion
Founded in 2005, the Red Stick Rebellion is a local non-profit organization founded to bring local Star Wars enthusiasts together. Although we are based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, we have members all across south Louisiana. The group started as a place for members to discuss different aspects of Star Wars collecting at our monthly meeting – held on the second Saturday of each month – and we encourage anyone with an interesting in Star Wars collecting to attend. As we have grown in membership the Red Stick Rebellion has found ways to give back to the community by sharing the joy that Star Wars has given to the child in us all. We attend many local events including charity events, fundraisers and conventions where we work with the Louisiana branch of the 501st costuming group, the Bast Alpha Garrison, and the Rebel Legion. Each year we also have an Annual Costume Fan Day and Toy Drive event. Costume Fan Day is a free event held at the Jones Creek Library where kids can compete in LEGO building, trivia, art, costume contents and more. Our annual Toy Drives have helped raise more than $8,700 in toys – all of which were donated to local charities during the Christmas season. |
